One thing that hinders believers from enjoying the life of God’s Kingdom of which we are part, is lack of knowledge of God 2Pet.1:3, ignorance that our Head has not only overcome the power of the ruler of the world, God’s enemy and ours Jn.16:33, but has also prescribed how we may walk in that victory.

Contrary to popular teaching, the matter of overcoming the enemy is settled by three ways: ‘… And they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to death.’ Rev.12:10-11. These three work together:

1. The blood Jesus shed at His bruising and crucifixion was the restitution required for our sin, for without the shedding of blood there can be no atonement Heb.9:22. The affliction of He who had no sin redeemed mankind, creating out of every tribe, tongue, people and nation a special breed of people – God’s family, the Body of Christ, His Bride; a people over whom the enemy has no dominion;

2. The word of our testimony is two-fold. The one is a declaration of what is hoped for, already secured in the spiritual realm; the other is to testify to that which is already seen with the physical eyes;

3. Jesus put His life in the Hands of the One who alone could give it back. By His resurrection, He swallowed death in victory, made its power null and void, its sting 1Cor.15:55-57. When your life is given to Christ, stop trying to take it back, to help yourself. The problem with a living sacrifice is that it can crawl away from the altar, at will.

This last part is rarely taught. Yet Jesus avowed that the one who loves his life will lose it, but the one who considers his life as nothing in this world will have preserved it Jn.12:25.

You can’t rely on your own strength, your flesh, to produce a winning life. Trust God, be willing to surrender all, to exchange your low life for the high life in Christ, that you may enjoy eternal life – the abundant life here on earth and everlasting life with Him in eternity.
