Contrary to popular worldview, the word of God is not comprised merely of laws and statutes for Israel. Neither is it a rule book for the New Covenant seed of Abraham who believes that Jesus Christ died for his sin and was resurrected to reconcile him to Almighty God. No. Truth be told, God’s word is the Constitution of the earth, even the universe. By it all men and all matters will be judged; neither those who believe it nor those who do not will escape its net. How do we know this?
Jesus, the Word of God Rev.19:13 said:
‘I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him – the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day, for I have not spoken on My own authority, but the Father who sent Me gave me a command, what I should say and what I should speak’ Jn.12:46-50.
Apostle Paul confirmed this – that everyone in the world will be under the gavel of the Righteous Judge – to the Athenians when he stated that God ‘had appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead’ Acts.17:31.
The righteousness of God, not man, will be the standard for judgement. Believers, who already received the gift of God’s righteousness in Christ 2Cor.5:21 need recognise that, by His mercy and abounding grace, His Spirit in us enables and empowers us to walk in His will, in love of Him and other men, above sin.
Without the Spirit of God living in us it is impossible to live the Christian life; neither our power nor might can achieve it Zech.4:6.
As master builders, we need to grow in the knowledge of God’s word, and build on the foundation of Jesus Christ, just as did the Apostles and others who came after them. No other foundation can be laid other than this Heb.6:1. We who know that the world will be judged by the standard of God’s word need build our lives upon and around that same word.
We also need to pray for those who are not yet in Christ, for, whether they believe or not, the Constitution rules over them too!
