This is the correct order of your being: you are a speaking spirit, you have a thinking soul, and live in an active body. Made in the image and likeness of God, you look like, and behave like Him. The only route to successful living is to be like God, being what He created you to be: birds succeed at flying, fish succeed at swimming.

Adam, the first man was earthly, a God-man, the breath of God in a natural body, without sin. After his fall, every man born bore the image of fallen Adam: he ‘begot a son in his own likeness, after his image… ‘ Gen.5:3. Therefore, from your mother’s womb you are born of flesh. The second God-Man is the Lord, Jesus Christ, a quickening Spirit Lk.1:31-32. When you identify with His work of justification, reconciliation and salvation, and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour, you experience a re-birth by the Spirit of the Father. Whereas previously you bore the image of the earthly, you now bear the image of the heavenly as a bona fide citizen of heaven Phil.3:20. No longer a mere man but an adopted son Jn.1:12-13, you are restored to the original, pre-sin, spiritual state.

You partake of the God nature after being born of the Spirit, you are born-again Jn.3:3. This is all the empowerment you need to succeed; therein is your claim to everything God planned for you. Restoration of your spiritual status is your access to the benefits of son-ship Eph.1:3. You have a terrestrial body for life on earth and a celestial body for fellowship with God, spirit relating with Spirit. You receive His gifts of abundant life here on earth, and everlasting life after. These constitute eternal life, the very life of Christ. You are ‘no more a servant but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ’ Gal.4:7.

When you discover your true identity, you need to know what belongs to you, then claim it. A father bequeaths all that belongs to him to his children. ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein’ PS.24:1. All your Father has, He gave to Christ. When you receive Him as Lord and Saviour, you become a joint-heir with Him; as you continue to abide in Him, you get access to all He died and rose to secure for you: ‘power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honour and glory and blessing.’ Rev.5:12.

An heir is entitled, not by doing anything, or by being considered worthy, but by the rights conferred by the owner, the conveyor of the inheritance. Your own portion of the fullness of the earth and your part of those who dwell in the world are received as you know the Giver 2Pet.1:3. Ask, you will receive what rightfully belongs to you. You do not need to strive with, or look to other men for any material thing, or for the relationships God ordained for you: ‘… let no man glory in men. For all thongs are yours… ‘ 1Cor.3:21-23.
